A mother of two lovely girls, I, often talk about kids with family, friends & colleagues and get to hear comments like- pehle zammane mein sab theek tha these days Kids question everything. Kids ask so many questions - is that really a problem? Or the problem is that we do not have answers to those never ending questions. But is that the problem that we do not have right answer or the problem is somewher else.
I guess the problem is that we are poor listeners and love telling kids to do things our way . One thing the kid wants these days is a listener "a good listener", and it solves the major part of "those never ending questions".
While driving back from school or any other place my six years old daughter would end up asking lot many questions and these question could be as complicated as like "how far is Sun?" "Why is moon everywhere?"
Amidst bad traffic it is difficult to answer all these questions and not only difficult it can be annoying too, but snubbing her was not the solution and my daughter would not settle for anything else but some discussion about such queries. So we decided to record all her questions on mobile phone and decided to discuss at MUTUALLY convenient time.
Its not that I answer all her queries always but by talking about her questions I honour and respect her thoughts and it encourages her for further interactions.
And trust me it has helped both of us and it also helps me in understanding my surroundings in a better manner...Things which were routine earlier are not so routine now because my daughter encourages me everyday to see that why in routine.
